One of the highlights of Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival is the abundance of scrumptious dishes found in every corner of the park. Each outdoor kitchen follows a theme, whether the menu represents a certain country or a certain type of cuisine, and they are set up all throughout Epcot so you can eat as you explore the festival topiaries and gardens. Many menu items at Epcot’s 2018 Flower and Garden Festival were vegetarian friendly, and while I didn’t order them all, here is a list of the good vegetarian eats I tried!
Table of Contents
NEW! The Honey Bee-stro
New this year was the Honey Bee-stro booth, and what a fantastic addition it made to the festival! Firstly, the educational signs around the booth were great, informing visitors how bees are responsible for pollinating so many of the foods we eat, how many different varieties of honey there are, and how honey is harvested. There was also a big display of jars filled with pure orange blossom honey. Winnie-the-Pooh would be pleased!
The best part – it contained my favorite dish of the whole festival! Pictured above is the local wildflower honey mascarpone cheesecake with orange blossom honey ice cream. It even comes with fennel pollen meringue bites. It was unbelievably delicious, not too sweet, and the honey ice cream was so refreshing. I ate it two days in a row, and just typing this up makes me want to eat another serving right now!
United Kingdom Pavilion – Cider House
I was happy to see the lemon scone with crème fraiche and mixed berries return to the 2018 festival because I enjoyed it so much the year before. The lemon added a perfect zest to the sweetness of the scone, and the berries and crème fraiche were delectable toppings that paired really well with it.
I also asked for the house-made potato and cheddar biscuit without the salmon tartare topping. It was savory and delicious.
France Pavilion – Fleur de Lys
One of the most visually striking sweets served at the festival was the macaron au chocolat en sucette – a large chocolate macaron on a lollipop stick. It had a rich chocolate ganache center in the middle of light and airy chocolate discs covered with crunchy chocolate pieces. Très delicieux!
Also vegetarian-friendly was the tarte à la tomate Provençale – Provencal tomato tart with sautéed onions, fresh thyme, and rosemary on a flaky pastry crust. I did not have it, but one of my companions did, and they said it was tasty.
Japan Pavilion – Hanami
One of my favorite festival treats returned this year – frushi! It consisted of pineapple, strawberry, and melon stuffed inside coconut rice with toasted coconut on top and whipped cream and raspberry sauce on the side. Three sushi pieces were served with each order. I was so eager to taste it again that I realized I hadn’t taken a photo until I had already eaten one, hence why there are only two pieces in the photo above. It’s such a novelty as well as the perfect light snack!
Germany Pavilion – Bauernmarkt
The potato pancakes served with house-made applesauce in the Bauernmarkt made for great comfort food. The two large and crispy pancakes were a savory complement to the slightly sweet applesauce. It was quite filling and certainly gave me the energy needed to keep exploring Epcot!
I also enjoyed the warm cheese strudel with mixed berries. The dough was soft and flaky and the cheese filling was nice and creamy.
Sunshine Seasons
Not technically a food booth, but I came across these peanut butter and jelly cupcakes at the Sunshine Seasons food court in The Land Pavilion that were so pretty I just had to include them. The flowers look so real!
Other Outdoor Kitchens
There were a lot of other dishes from other outdoor kitchens I didn’t have enough time to try, but they all sounded delicious! You can find a complete list here.
